Paid subscriptions
Paid subscriptions are on the roadmap. Plan details, pricing and a launch date have not been announced. You can use all current editor features for free today.
Before you save or share
- Importing reads the file in your browser. Saving or publishing uploads the map document and its feature data.
- Unsaved edits are held in this tab. Export your data before refreshing or closing it.
- Anonymous editing relies on this browser’s saved edit token. Clearing browser storage can remove your editing access.
Published maps are visible to anyone with the link. Password protection, custom domains, version history and shared team workspaces are not currently offered. See the privacy policy for details.
Pricing questions
- Do I need a subscription or a credit card?
- No. The current editor is free to use. Paid subscriptions are planned; there is no paid plan to purchase today. All 16 basemap choices, supported imports, chart overlays, PNG export at 1×, 2× and 3×, and GeoJSON export are available without a payment.
- Can I make a map without an account?
- Yes. Import, style, export, save and publish without signing in. A saved anonymous map uses an edit token kept in this browser. The last server-saved map reopens in this browser when you return to the studio. Keep a GeoJSON export too; unsaved changes are not restored after a refresh.
- What becomes public when I publish?
- Anyone with the share link can view the map and its included feature data. Saving without publishing keeps it out of the public viewer. Password protection, custom share domains and team workspaces are not available.
- Are address lookups included?
- The built-in geocoder supports small batches with rate limits. You can instead use your own MapTiler or Mapbox key; the provider may charge you under its own plan. There is no paid priority queue in MapCrafter.
- Can I use an exported map commercially?
- Keep the required attribution for the basemap and check the licence of any data you import. OpenStreetMap data permits commercial use with attribution. No subscription removes third-party attribution requirements.
- What are the current limits?
- A saved project can contain up to 12 MB of serialised data. Large files may exceed your browser’s memory or graphics capacity. The studio styles imported geometry; it does not calculate road routes, travel-time catchments or hexbin grids.
